Export Commodity was founded on one belief: that professional-grade additive manufacturing shouldn’t be the exclusive domain of Fortune 500 companies. The tools that change products, industries, and ideas should be accessible to builders, makers, designers, and dreamers in Houston and beyond.
Where We Started
Export Commodity grew out of a frustration that every maker, engineer, and product designer in Houston knows: great ideas get stuck waiting. Waiting for quotes. Waiting for lead times. Waiting for manufacturers who treat small orders as afterthoughts. Waiting for access to professional-grade equipment that was only available to companies with large production contracts.
We started with a simple premise — build a manufacturing operation in Houston that treats every client’s project with the same seriousness, regardless of quantity. One part or five hundred parts. A startup prototype or a production run for an established company. A creative prop for a film production or a structural component for an aerospace program. Every project gets the same engineering attention, the same material rigor, and the same commitment to delivery on time.
What began as a focused 3D printing operation has grown into a full-service custom manufacturing facility with multiple printing technologies, a complete post-processing and finishing department, and an in-house design team capable of taking projects from concept to finished part.
Our Journey
First Print, First Client
Started with a single professional FDM machine and a determination to deliver quality the Houston market wasn’t getting from national print farms and online services. First clients were product designers and startups who needed fast, professional prototyping without minimum order requirements.
Technology Expansion
Added SLA and resin printing capabilities as client demand for higher-detail, smoother-surface parts grew. Film and entertainment clients came on board — the creative industry’s appetite for fast, high-quality props proved to be one of our strongest market segments.
Full-Service Manufacturing
Opened our post-processing and finishing department, bringing sanding, priming, painting, and assembly capabilities in-house. Added SLS capability for production-grade Nylon parts. Aerospace and engineering clients joined the client roster as our material options expanded.
Houston’s Custom Manufacturing Partner
Now serving clients across Houston and shipping nationally. Our client base spans architecture, aerospace, product development, entertainment, retail, engineering, and education. Large format capability added. In-house 3D design team fully operational. Over 500 projects shipped.

We’ve worked with independent product designers on their first prototype and with aerospace primes on structural component mock-ups. We’ve printed props for film productions, models for architectural firms, custom merchandise for retail brands, and replacement parts for industrial equipment that’s been out of production for years.
